Reflection 3/9

As the book came to an end I was shocked. It was hard for me to read. I was a little unsure why Tayo's friends turned on him to help Emo get him. I know that emo and Tayo have never got along but it seemed strange since Tayo was spending the summer with the woman and he wasn't with the other guys. I found it interesting that even in the height of Tayo's anger the wind blew the fire and brought him back to his senses. I interpreted this as the earth in the form of wind stopping Tayo from doing something he would regret.
The best part of the book for me was the very last line: "Sunrise, accept this offering, sunrise". This was so symbolic for the whole book because nature is the thing that will always protect us through healing and repetition. The sun rises every morning no matter what wrongs have been done. And nature is constantly repeating itself in never ending patterns. This brings humans peace and healing, if they let it.
